THSS & Blue Cross Raise Awareness for Children

Introduction

Tanzania Health and Social Services (THSS), in collaboration with Blue Cross International, organized an educational initiative for children attending a holiday camp in Usa River, Arusha. The event aimed to raise awareness about the risks associated with peer pressure and harmful behaviors that young people may encounter.

During the camp, children were educated on the dangers of engaging in negative peer groups, which can lead to substance abuse, including drug use and alcoholism. The sessions emphasized the long-term impacts these behaviors can have on their health, social relationships, and future opportunities.

Additionally, the program highlighted the issue of gender-based violence, equipping the children with knowledge on how to identify and avoid situations that could lead to abuse. Through interactive discussions and activities, the initiative empowered the campers to make informed, positive choices in their lives.
