Community Health Interventions

Achieving an end to the HIV epidemic requires widespread public support and access to vital information. THSS aligns with UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets, aiming for widespread HIV testing, treatment, and viral load suppression. Tanzania faces a significant TB burden, with gaps in case detection. THSS supports efforts to improve TB education and healthcare worker training. In WASH, inadequate sanitation and water access contribute to preventable diseases. THSS provides services and education to reduce disease incidence. Mental health is crucial for overall well-being, with THSS collaborating to address community mental health issues.

HIV

Achieving an end to the HIV epidemic requires widespread public support to sustain a long-term effort, having access to a common baseline of information about the current HIV epidemic. The focus of the education and awareness effort is to improve individual understanding of HIV infection, HIV-related risk factors, risk reduction and reduce HIV-related stigma and discrimination. Due to this, THSS’s efforts relies to UNAIDS 95,95,95 targets by 2025 that; 95% of people living with HIV know their status,95% of people who know their status are on ARV treatment and 95% of those on treatment are viral load suppressed

TB

Tanzania is ranked 14th among the 30 WHO-identified high TB burden countries. It is also listed   among the ten countries with the largest gaps between notifications of new and relapse (incident) TB cases and the estimates of TB incidence due to limited information. TB prevalence survey in 2012 gave the results on the country’s high TB burden and low TB case detection rate, revealing that over 100,000 cases of TB are missed every year.Â

The results also demonstrated the clear need for renewed efforts to strengthen both the health delivery systems and critical program interventions for TB control. THSS is aiming at supporting National and International efforts on providing clear and quality education on TB cases at community level and motivate the community dwellers to   attend hospitals for checkup in case of TB signs show up. As well as provide mentorship to health care workers on assisting the clients to quick friendly service.

WASH - Water Sanitation & Hygiene

In Tanzania, WASH-sensitive indicators such as diarrhea and stunting are high. It is estimated    that Tanzania spends 70 per cent of its health budget on preventable WASH-related diseases as the majority of the population does not have access to improved sanitation, and close to half of the population does not have access to clean drinking water. Without adequate WASH facilities; Homes, schools and health centers become breeding grounds for diseases that kill children and adults and threaten their wellbeing. However, the Government of Tanzania has pledged to increase access to improved sanitation; THSS in complimenting  the Government of Tanzania and development partners’ efforts, is committed to providing WASH services and education to men, women, youth and children, for reduced incidents to WASH related diseases and deaths.
